Markforged has introduced the Metal Kit hardware extension for metal 3D printing on the FX10 printer.

The FX10 Metal Kit from Markforged enables the Markforged FX10 industrial composite 3D printer to print both composite and metal materials. The first metal-enabled FX10 of its kind means manufacturers can reliably solve critical manufacturing challenges, increase profitability and productivity, and scale across teams and businesses.

Metal Kit features

• The FX10 Metal Upgrade Kit allows users to print metal parts on the Markforged FX10.
• After installing the kit, users can easily switch between composite and metal materials.
• Requires Markforged Wash-1, Sinter-1 or Sinter-2 for further processing of metal parts.
• Compatible printers: Markforged FX10.
• Compatible metal materials: Markforged Stainless Steel 17-4PH v2, Markforged Stainless Steel 316L (available in Q1 2025).

Easy installation

The modular design of the FX10 simplifies the upgrade process. Switching between metal and composite printing is seamless. Changing components such as the print head and routing unit takes about 15 minutes and a short calibration print. Fully compatible with Markforged software and a selection of production materials, the FX10 is one of the best and highest quality 3D printers in the world.

The FX10 Metal Kit includes:

• FX10 Metal Print Head. A special metal print head that replaces the composite print head installed on the machine.
• Material Tubes. The metal-specific material feed tubes, replacing composite feed tubes.
• Material Routing Block. A special routing unit installed at the rear of the machine.
• Dual Pre-extruders (one-time installation). Dual pre-extruders are compatible with composite and metal printing.
