Formlabs Tough 1500 Resin V2 Cartridge for Form Studio 1, 1 L — a gray engineering photopolymer resin for printing strong and flexible parts that require a combination of rigidity, ductility, and impact resistance. The material's mechanical behavior is similar to polypropylene (PP) and is intended for functional prototypes, manufacturing equipment, and end-use parts.

Balance of Rigidity and Ductility

Tough 1500 Resin V2 is designed for parts that must withstand stress and deformation without brittle failure. The elongation at break is 155%, and the tensile modulus is 1460 MPa. This combination of properties is suitable for latches, flexible elements, snap-fit enclosures, and other functional parts.

In the Ross Flexing Fatigue test, the material withstands 8000 cycles, characterizing its behavior under repeated bending.

Strength, Impact Resistance, and Heat Resistance

Main mechanical properties of Tough 1500 Resin V2:

• Tensile strength — 34 MPa;
• Flexural strength — 41 MPa;
• Impact toughness Notched Izod — 42 J/m;
• Heat deflection temperature at 0.45 MPa — 66 °C.

The material is aimed at functional prototypes, manufacturing fixtures, protective enclosures, and parts where impact resistance and a combination of rigidity and ductility are important.

Printing Tough 1500 Resin V2 on Form Studio 1

For Tough 1500 Resin V2 on Form Studio 1, printing with a layer thickness of 100 µm is available.

Working with the material requires a Form Studio 1 Resin Tank Pro. The standard Form Studio 1 Resin Tank is incompatible with Tough 1500 Resin V2: the resin components may damage the tank film.

Post-Processing Tough 1500 Resin V2

For Tough 1500 Resin V2, Resin Washing Solution is not recommended. IPA can be used for rinsing parts; the recommended rinsing time in Form Wash / Form Wash L is 10 minutes.

In Form Studio Wash+Cure, Tough 1500 Resin cures in approximately 30 minutes without additional heating.

The listed mechanical properties are obtained on post-cured test samples printed on Form 4 with a layer thickness of 100 µm. The actual properties of the finished part may depend on its geometry, orientation, printing parameters, and post-curing.
