Features of Markforged 17-4PH Version V2

New Binder Material

The new binder material provides increased filament flexibility. This reduces its brittleness. The filament becomes easier to store and load. Extremely high chamber heating is not required for this.

Markforged 17-4PH Stainless Steel with improved properties

Improved Mechanical Properties

The updated formula maintains strength. It also preserves the corrosion resistance of the previous version. The filament provides higher isotropy. Print reliability is also improved.

Larger Spools and Increased Productivity

Markforged 400cc metal filament comes in larger spools. This allows for twice as long printing without material replacement. The time for starting and changing consumables for Markforged Metal X is reduced, which increases productivity.

Print Modes in Eiger

Eiger software allows using Markforged V2 3D printer material in several print modes:

Fine Features: this mode provides high precision. The layer thickness after sintering is 0.085 mm. It's designed for printing small details. Surface quality and accuracy of parts are improved.

Turbo Mode: this is an accelerated print mode. The layer thickness after sintering is 0.17 mm. Print speed increases by up to 35%. Significant quality loss does not occur.

Markforged 17-4PH Stainless Steel: areas of use

Areas of Application for Markforged 17-4PH V2 Stainless Steel

Thanks to its properties, Markforged stainless steel for 3D printing is widely used in various industries:

  • Aviation and aerospace industry: used for manufacturing strong and lightweight components.
  • Oil and gas industry: applied in conditions of high corrosive loads.
  • Mechanical engineering and manufacturing: used for creating tools. Also suitable for fixtures and functional prototypes.
  • Medicine: used in the production of surgical instruments and implants.
  • Shipbuilding: suitable for parts exposed to aggressive environments.

Printing Technology and Material Compatibility 17-4PH V2

Markforged 17-4PH steel filament is designed for use with the Markforged Metal X system. Metal printing technology is based on Metal FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication). It combines processes from MIM (Metal Injection Molding) and FFF printing. After printing, parts undergo debinding stages (washing). Then sintering occurs. This ensures the production of full-fledged metal products with precise dimensions and high strength.
