XGRIDS Lixel K2 is a mobile LiDAR scanner designed for rapid spatial data collection and real-time color point cloud formation. LiDAR and SLAM for Dynamic Digitization

XGRIDS Lixel K2 combines LiDAR, satellite, and inertial sensors with SLAM algorithms, allowing the scanner to simultaneously determine its position in space and form a three-dimensional map of the environment while the operator is moving. This enables mobile scanning without setting up tripods and sequential static stops.

The LiDAR module provides a scanning range of up to 40 m for surfaces with 10% reflectivity and up to 70 m for surfaces with 80% reflectivity. The data collection speed is up to 200,000 points per second, and the field of view covers 360° horizontally and 270° vertically. For optimal point cloud density, the recommended distance to the object is 1–25 m. This scanning format is suitable for digitizing interiors, construction sites, corridors, underground parking lots, and adjacent areas.

Metrological Accuracy and Coordinate Referencing

The relative measurement accuracy is up to 1 cm. This indicator characterizes the geometric accuracy of the mutual placement of points within a single scanned object or room.

The point cloud thickness indicator is ≤ 1 cm on flat surfaces, ensuring clear definition of walls, floors, and structural elements. When using the built-in RTK module and connecting to the NTRIP/CORS network, the absolute accuracy of geodetic referencing in the global coordinate system reaches 2–5 cm depending on satellite coverage conditions.

Photogrammetry and Data Colorization Using Optical Cameras

The device's body contains cameras for photo fixation and point cloud colorization. The high-resolution front camera captures the color characteristics of surfaces during movement. Software algorithms match the obtained photos with LiDAR laser measurements, forming an RGB point cloud. This simplifies the recognition of materials, engineering networks, and finishing elements when creating graphic drawings and BIM models.

Software Ecosystem for Management and Post-Processing

Several software solutions are used to work with XGRIDS Lixel K2. LixelGO is a mobile app for Android that allows you to control the scanner, select shooting modes, track the route, and view the point cloud in real-time. LixelStudio is intended for further data processing on a computer: project stitching, noise filtering, polygon mesh construction, as well as measuring distances, areas, and volumes. Lixel CyberColor / LCC Studio is used for processing photometric data and creating 3DGS models based on materials obtained during scanning.

Tips for Achieving Ideal Accuracy

  • Optimal movement speed. Move at a speed of 1–1.5 m/s to maintain uniform point cloud density and scanning stability.
  • Closed scanning route. If possible, complete the route at the starting point. This helps reduce error accumulation during SLAM algorithm operation.
  • Working distance to surfaces. When scanning rooms, keep the distance to objects within 1.5–15 m.
  • Smooth movement between rooms. When passing through doors and narrow passages, avoid sharp turns and rapid scanner movements.
  • Control of scan completeness. Monitor map construction in the LixelGO app to timely identify areas with insufficient coverage and rescan them if necessary.
  • Using RTK in open areas. If a stable internet connection is available, use RTK mode to obtain NTRIP corrections and more accurate data georeferencing.
