Unitree G1-D Standard B-U2 for Educational and Research Tasks

Unitree G1-D Standard B-U2 is a stationary dual-arm humanoid robot on a fixed base, designed for education, research, data collection, manipulation algorithm testing, and applied automation tasks. The B-U2 version includes all the features of the G1-D Standard A, but instead of Dex1-1 Advanced Edition grippers, it is equipped with two three-finger dexterous hands Dex3-1 Force-Controlled Three-Finger Dexterous Hand. The hands lack tactile feedback but are equipped with an integrated RGB camera. The platform has 31 DoF degrees of freedom, two 7-axis arms, 2 degrees of freedom in the waist, a lifting column, a multi-sensor perception system, and a computational module NVIDIA Jetson Orin 16G with a performance of 100 TOPS. The robot is suitable for universities, laboratories, R&D teams, and companies working with robotics, computer vision, artificial intelligence, dual-arm manipulation, and process automation.

Features of Unitree G1-D Standard B-U2

  • Extended configuration based on Standard A. The B-U2 version retains the basic capabilities of the G1-D Standard A, including a fixed base, two robotic arms, a lifting column, cameras, a computational module, support for OTA updates, and secondary development.
  • Degrees of freedom with end effectors. The total number of degrees of freedom is 31 DoF: 7 degrees of freedom for each arm, 2 degrees of freedom in the waist, 1 degree of freedom in the column, and 7 degrees of freedom for each three-finger dexterous hand Dex3-1.
  • Flexible gripping of objects of various shapes. The robot is equipped with two three-finger hands Dex3-1 with force control. They are designed for testing manipulation algorithms, more precise interaction with objects, and working with different automation scenarios.
  • Focus on force control and machine vision. In this configuration, the Dex3-1 hands are supplied without tactile feedback, so the main emphasis is on force control, visual control, camera-based gripping algorithms, and software logic.
  • Stable base for precise manipulation. The fixed base provides reliable support when working with objects, data collection, model training, and algorithm testing in laboratory or production conditions.
  • Work with loads up to 3 kg. Two 7-axis robotic arms allow for gripping, moving, and holding objects during dual-arm manipulations. Each arm has 7 degrees of freedom, with a working radius of approximately 0.45 m.
  • Precise adjustment of working height. The extendable column has a stroke of 500 mm, positioning accuracy of 1 mm, and a lifting speed of up to 60 mm/s, allowing the robot to adapt to different working scenarios. The maximum working height is approximately 2 m.
  • Full overview of the working area. The multi-sensor perception system includes a main HD binocular camera, two HD cameras on the wrists, and RGB cameras in the Dex3-1 hands. This configuration helps control the working area, collect visual data, and test computer vision algorithms.
  • Fast data processing and AI algorithms. The Unitree G1-D Standard B-U2 is equipped with an 8-core high-performance CPU and an NVIDIA Jetson Orin 16G module with a performance of 100 TOPS for processing sensor data, computer vision, AI algorithms, and robotics tasks.
  • Flexible power supply for different work scenarios. The robot can operate from a quick-release battery with a capacity of 9000 mAh or through direct cable connection. The autonomous operation time is approximately 2 hours.
  • Modern interfaces and OTA updates. The Unitree G1-D Standard B-U2 supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, USB interface for Dex3-1 hands, manual control remote, and Smart OTA updates.

Design and Functionality

The Unitree G1-D Standard B-U2 has a fixed base, a lifting column, and two robotic arms. This design provides stability when working with objects and allows for changing the height of the working area depending on the task. The minimum platform dimensions are 1260x500x500 mm, the maximum dimensions are approximately 1680x500x500 mm, and the weight with the battery is about 50 kg.

Object Manipulation

The humanoid robot Unitree G1-D Standard B-U2 is equipped with two 7-axis arms and two Dex3-1 Force-Controlled Three-Finger Dexterous Hands. Each hand has 7 degrees of freedom, weighs approximately 650 g, and measures 175x88x77 mm. The design includes a thumb with 3 degrees of freedom, an index finger with 2 degrees of freedom, and a middle finger with 2 degrees of freedom. This format allows for testing more complex scenarios of gripping, holding, moving, and positioning objects than configurations with regular grippers.

Multi-Sensor Perception System

The robot is equipped with a perception system that includes a main HD binocular camera with a resolution of 3840x1200 and viewing angles H: 115°, V: 80°, D: 125°, two HD cameras on the wrists with a resolution of 1920x1080 and viewing angles H: 130°, V: 60°, D: 160°, and RGB cameras in the Dex3-1 hands. This configuration helps control the overall scene, the manipulation zone, and the direct contact of the hand with the object, which is important for data collection and testing computer vision algorithms.

Data Processing and Model Training

The Unitree G1-D Standard B-U2 is focused on working with manipulation algorithms, computer vision, and robotic models. The computational system is built on an 8-core high-performance CPU and an NVIDIA Jetson Orin 16G module with a performance of 100 TOPS. This allows for processing video streams from cameras, testing gripping algorithms, running AI models, and integrating the platform into research or applied projects.
