PLA HS Plastic KLEMA for High-Speed FDM 3D Printing

PLA HS Plastic KLEMA 1.75 mm 1 kg Black is a filament for FDM 3D printing of prototypes, models, and serial production of products, designed for stable extrusion at increased speed. The material has a diameter tolerance of ±0.02 mm, low shrinkage of 0.1–0.3%, and supports a printing speed of up to 250 mm/s, which allows reducing the time for manufacturing models and series of parts.

High-Speed Printing and Feed Stability

PLA HS is focused on working at increased material feed speed. For speeds up to 250 mm/s, the working nozzle temperature range is 210–230°C. The melt flow and controlled filament diameter help maintain uniform extrusion during rapid layer formation.

The diameter tolerance of ±0.02 mm reduces fluctuations in the volume of material passing through the nozzle, and even winding of the spool reduces the risk of crossovers and feed interruptions. This is especially important during long prints or the production of a series of identical parts.

Low shrinkage of 0.1–0.3% helps maintain the geometry of the model during cooling.

Mechanical Properties at High-Speed Printing

Tensile strength is about 39 MPa, and elongation at break is about 12%. The material combines stiffness with a small margin of deformation before failure, which is suitable for prototypes and models that need to maintain a specified geometry.

Bending strength is about 70 MPa, and the flexural modulus is about 3.2 GPa, making the material suitable for rigid models, prototypes, and functional elements that need to maintain a specified shape under load.

Izod impact strength with a notch is about 4.5 kJ/m². Therefore, PLA HS is more suitable for applications where stiffness, geometric stability, and manufacturing speed are priorities, rather than significant absorption of impact loads.

Mechanical indicators are obtained on samples printed at a speed of 160–220 mm/s at a temperature of 220°C and with 100% infill. This allows evaluating the material's characteristics specifically under high-speed printing conditions.

Heat Resistance

The heat deflection temperature is about 57°C at a load of 0.45 MPa. The glass transition temperature is 67.2°C, the melting temperature is 165.3°C, and the Vicat softening temperature is 54°C.

These parameters should be considered for parts that may operate near heat sources or heat up during operation.

3D Printing Modes

The working nozzle temperature range is 210–230°C, the platform temperature is 50–60°C, and the printing speed is up to 250 mm/s. Specific values can be adjusted according to the model's geometry, extruder design, and 3D printer capabilities.

A textured PEI platform without additional surface treatment is suitable for printing. Active cooling is used during printing.

The retraction length is 0.8–1.2 mm, and the retraction speed is 30–40 mm/s. PVA can be used for soluble support structures.

Drying and Storage

The filament drying temperature is 50°C.

The material should be stored away from direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation can cause a gradual change in the shade of PLA.
