PETG Plastic KLEMA 1.75 mm 1 kg Yellow for 3D Printing Functional Parts and Prototypes

PETG Plastic KLEMA 1.75 mm 1 kg Yellow — is a thermoplastic filament for FDM 3D printing of enclosures, functional parts, prototypes, and household products. The material combines mechanical strength, impact resistance, and water resistance, making it suitable for manufacturing parts that experience mechanical loads or are used in humid environments.

Examples of practical use of strong KLEMA PETG filament.

Material Advantages

  • Water resistance. PETG can be used to manufacture parts that come into contact with moisture or operate in humid environments.
  • Impact resistance. The material is suitable for enclosures and household components that may experience impacts during use.
  • Geometric stability. Shrinkage during molding is 0.1–0.5%, allowing this property to be considered during part design. The actual dimensional change of a product printed by FDM depends on its shape, orientation, and printer settings.
  • Resistance to weak acids and alkalis. PETG is suitable for manufacturing parts that may come into contact with weak acidic and alkaline solutions during operation. This expands the material's use for household and technical products.

Temperature Behavior of PETG

PETG is a glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate. Under the influence of elevated temperature, the material may lose rigidity, and under simultaneous mechanical load, it may change shape even before melting begins. Therefore, when designing parts for operation under heating conditions, it is necessary to consider not only the ambient temperature but also the nature and duration of the load.

Features of 3D Printing with PETG

PETG can adhere strongly to certain platform coatings, particularly smooth glass. For such surfaces, an appropriate release agent can facilitate the removal of the finished part and reduce the risk of damaging the coating.

During nozzle movements between model elements, PETG may form thin plastic strings. If such a defect occurs, it is worth adjusting the nozzle temperature and retraction parameters considering the extruder design.

Cooling helps form overhangs and bridges, but excessive cooling can worsen the bond between layers. The intensity of cooling should be selected according to the geometry of the part and printing conditions.

Drying and Storage Recommendations

Before printing, PETG is recommended to be dried at a temperature of 60–65 °C, especially if the filament has been stored in open packaging for a long time. Moisture in the material can cause unstable melt flow from the nozzle and degrade the surface quality of finished parts.

Between printing sessions, the filament should be stored in airtight packaging with a desiccant in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight.

Application Areas

  • Enclosures and functional components. Manufacturing of enclosure elements, mounts, and auxiliary parts for equipment considering anticipated loads.
  • Prototypes. Creating research samples to verify dimensions, fits, assembly, and operation of individual units.
  • Household and decorative products. Printing organizers, accessories, toys, figurines, and decorative items.
