PETG Basic Plastic Bambu Lab for Durable Functional and Structural Parts

PETG Basic Plastic Bambu Lab 1.75 mm 1 kg Dark Brown is a filament for FDM 3D printing of functional, structural, and household parts that combines strength, impact resistance, water resistance, and resistance to ultraviolet and temperature effects. The material formulation reduces the tendency to form strings and helps achieve a smoother surface and clearer model elements.

Material Advantages

  • Tensile strength of about 51 MPa and modulus of elasticity of about 2.8 GPa help parts maintain rigidity under mechanical load;
  • Bending strength of about 75 MPa allows the material to be used for structural elements that need to resist bending loads;
  • Impact strength of about 34 kJ/m² increases the resistance of parts to short-term impact and contact loads;
  • Heat deflection temperature up to 71°C allows the material to be used for products operating at moderately elevated temperatures;
  • Water and UV resistance expand the material's application possibilities for products intended for outdoor use;
  • Reduced tendency to form strings helps achieve a cleaner surface and reduces the amount of additional model cleaning after printing.

Strength, Impact Resistance, and Thermal Stability

In the X–Y plane, the tensile strength of PETG Basic is about 51 MPa, and the bending strength is about 75 MPa. These mechanical properties allow the material to be used for functional and structural parts that need to maintain shape under load.

In the Z direction, the tensile strength is about 35 MPa, and the bending strength is about 56 MPa. For mechanically loaded parts, it is important to consider the model's orientation relative to the layer direction.

The impact strength is about 34 kJ/m² in the X–Y plane and 11 kJ/m² in the Z direction. The material can withstand short-term impact and contact loads while maintaining the characteristic viscosity of PETG.

The material density is 1.25 g/cm³. The glass transition temperature and Vicat softening temperature are 69°C, and the heat deflection temperature reaches 71°C depending on the applied load.

PETG Basic is not soluble in water and is resistant to most oils and greases. For contact with acids, alkalis, and organic solvents, the chemical compatibility of the material should be considered separately.

3D Printing Modes

For PETG Basic, it is important to select the correct working surface and control the adhesion of the first layer. Textured and smooth PEI platforms can be used for printing. Glue can be used as an additional adhesive or separating layer.

Retraction and cooling parameters can be adjusted depending on the model's geometry and the extruder's design. The exact ranges of nozzle and platform temperatures, printing speed, cooling, retraction, and allowable nozzle diameters are provided in the technical table below.

Drying and Storage

Before printing, it is recommended to dry the filament in a dryer with warm air circulation at a temperature of 65°C for 8 hours.

During storage, the material should be kept airtight with a desiccant. The recommended relative humidity is below 20% RH.

PETG Basic Bambu Lab is suitable for:

  • structural parts;
  • functional parts;
  • functional tools and equipment;
  • accessories intended for outdoor use;
  • everyday use products.
