Design and Functionality

The Unitree G1-D Standard C-U3 is a stationary dual-arm robotic platform with a fixed base, retractable vertical column, two 7-axis manipulators, and three-finger dexterous hands Dex3-1. The fixed base ensures high stability and precision during complex manipulation tasks, and the humanoid design allows for modeling the robot's upper body work in a controlled environment.

The manipulation system consists of two 7-axis arms, a 2-axis waist, a 1-axis retractable column, and two Dex3-1 hands, each with 7 degrees of freedom. The total number of degrees of freedom is 31 DoF. This architecture provides excellent flexibility and allows for precise gripping, moving, holding, and precision positioning of objects.

Object Manipulation

The model is equipped with two force-controlled three-finger dexterous hands Dex3-1 with tactile feedback. Each hand has 7 degrees of freedom (thumb 3 DoF, index 2 DoF, middle 2 DoF), allowing the robot to adaptively grasp objects of various shapes.

The weight of one hand is approximately 650 g, dimensions 175x88x77 mm. The hand operates in a voltage range of 12–58 V, supports communication via USB, and is equipped with 33 tactile sensors. This allows for precise grip force control, working with fragile and small objects, and collecting high-quality tactile data. The built-in RGB camera in each hand provides additional visual control directly at the finger level.

This configuration turns the platform into an effective tool for collecting multimodal data, testing manipulation algorithms, and training models for interaction with physical objects.

Multi-sensor Perception System

The comprehensive multi-sensor system includes the main vision system, wrist cameras, RGB cameras in the Dex3-1 hands, and 33 tactile sensors on each hand. RGB cameras provide detailed visual control of the working area directly at the finger level, while tactile sensors transmit precise data about contact, pressure force, and interaction with objects.

Thanks to this combination, the robot effectively perceives the surrounding environment, controls the position of objects, and collects high-quality multimodal visual and tactile data necessary for training models of computer vision, tactile perception, and robotic manipulation.

Data Processing and Model Training

The Unitree G1-D Standard C-U3 is focused on data collection and robotic model training. The platform allows organizing a full data workflow: task creation, assignment, collection, annotation, verification, storage, and export. The robot can be used for collecting visual and tactile data, testing manipulation algorithms, and developing control models for dexterous hands.

The platform supports secondary development, OTA updates, working with open robotic frameworks, model training, simulation testing, and deploying algorithms on real equipment. Thanks to its two arms, fixed base, and Dex3-1 hands, the robot is suitable for research in fine motor skills, dual-arm manipulation, force control, and tactile learning.

Power System

The Unitree G1-D Standard C-U3 is designed for stationary operation. The Dex3-1 hands operate in a voltage range of 12–58 V. The platform is equipped with a power management system with BMS (Battery Management System) support, which monitors voltage, current, SOC (state of charge), element temperature, and cell status.

For long data collection and model training sessions, stable network power is recommended. The platform supports motor power management via GPIO (turning on/off all 12 motors), automatic charging, and protection against current and temperature overloads. Precise power parameters, power supply capacity, and configuration should be specified when ordering.

Applications

The Unitree G1-D Standard C-U3 is designed for tasks related to data collection, model training, and algorithm testing in a real environment. The stationary platform with two arms and three-finger dexterous hands Dex3-1 with tactile feedback opens up broad opportunities for researching precise manipulations.
