Revopoint POP 3 Plus Advanced Edition is a compact 3D scanner weighing only 0.190 kg, with extensive capabilities for precise digitization of objects. Thanks to the eye-safe Dual-camera Infrared Structured Light Class 1 technology, it operates in handheld and desktop modes, scans objects ranging from 20 × 20 × 20 mm to 2 × 2 × 2 m, and is suitable for 3D printing, reverse engineering, capturing complex geometry, and creating color textures. The Advanced Edition version additionally comes with a Dual-axis Turntable and an external Power Bank, making the scanning process even more convenient and autonomous.

Advantages of Revopoint POP 3 Plus

  • Accurate reproduction of object geometry. The accuracy of a single frame is up to 0.08 mm, corresponding to a deviation of up to 80 microns under controlled conditions.
  • Stable results during repeated measurements. The precision of a single frame reaches 0.04 mm and characterizes the repeatability of data when sequentially scanning the same object.
  • High surface and small element detail. The minimum point step is up to 0.05 mm and determines the density of the resulting point cloud and polygonal mesh.

Accuracy and Density of 3D Scanning

The Fused Point Distance parameter up to 0.05 mm determines the density of the point cloud and the level of detail of the finished 3D model. The actual result depends on lighting conditions, calibration, object size, and scanning technique.

Optical Zoom up to 2x for Small Details

The Optical Projector Zoom function provides optical magnification up to 2×, allowing for more precise scanning of small surface areas and capturing small geometry elements. The magnification is implemented at the level of the structured light projector by changing the projection area and focusing, without reducing the resolution of the optical sensors. Unlike digital zoom, this function does not increase the image programmatically and does not affect the scale of the RGB texture.

Three Tracking Methods for Different Geometry

  • Feature Tracking. Tracking mode based on the geometric features of the object. Used for scanning objects with rich relief, protrusions, bends, and holes, where the optical system is oriented on the natural contours of the surface without additional markers.
  • Marker Tracking. Tracking method based on reflective markers. Used for digitizing flat, symmetrical, or smooth surfaces lacking pronounced geometric elements. The scanner is oriented on contrasting points placed on or around the object.
  • Global Marker Tracking. Marker tracking mode using global coordinate grid algorithms. Designed for digitizing medium-sized objects where it is important to minimize spatial distortions and accumulation of errors when sequentially stitching a large number of individual frames.

9-axis IMU for Stable Handheld Scanning

The built-in 9-axis IMU with a gyroscope, accelerometer, and magnetometer tracks the position of the Revopoint POP 3 Plus in space and helps Revo Scan algorithms more accurately align consecutive frames. This increases the stability of handheld scanning and reduces the risk of losing tracking during movement. The IMU functions as a positioning sensor and does not directly affect the optical measurement of geometry.

Color 3D Models

The HD RGB camera and two white LEDs provide even lighting and more accurate color capture of the surface. The resulting texture is applied to the 3D model, making the Revopoint POP 3 Plus suitable for digital archiving, creating avatars and CGI objects, as well as digitizing artworks and museum exhibits.

Object Sizes and Working Distance

The scanner operates within a working distance range of 150 to 400 mm. Changing the distance directly affects the capture area of a single frame:

  • At a distance of 150 mm: the capture area is 61 × 68 mm for small details;
  • At a distance of 400 mm: the capture area increases to 244 × 180 mm for larger objects.

The recommended volume of objects for digitization is from 20 × 20 × 20 mm to 2 × 2 × 2 m. The Angular Field of View of the optical system is 40 × 25°.

Scanning Complex Surfaces

Revopoint POP 3 Plus requires preliminary preparation when scanning transparent, glossy, mirror, and deep black surfaces — for stable geometry capture on them, it is recommended to apply a matting 3D spray. When working outdoors, it is advisable to scan in the shade, under a canopy, or in cloudy weather, as direct sunlight can interfere with the operation of infrared cameras. The Advanced Edition includes a Dual-axis Turntable, which rotates the object 360° and changes the tilt angle, helping to automatically capture hard-to-reach areas without manual flipping.

Revo Scan Software

The Revo Scan software is used to manage the scanning process, pre-process data, build a polygonal mesh, and export 3D models. It works on compatible computers and mobile devices and allows performing the main stages of post-processing in one working environment.
