Infrared Laser and Structured Light for 3D Scanning
Revopoint INSPIRE 2 is a handheld and desktop 3D scanner for digitizing small and medium-sized objects using infrared structured light and a multi-line infrared laser. It is suitable for capturing the geometry of parts, creating 3D models, reverse engineering, and other tasks that require spatial data of an object. Scanning can be performed without markers on objects with sufficient geometric features.
Technical Advantages of Revopoint INSPIRE 2
- Accurate reproduction of part geometry. Single measurement accuracy is up to 0.05 mm, repeatability is up to 0.03 mm. This means that the obtained dimensions are close to actual ones, and the results of multiple measurements remain stable.
- Scanning dark and shiny surfaces. Eleven parallel infrared laser lines allow scanning such parts without scanning spray. The speed reaches 90 frames/s with a graphics processor.
- Scanning without markers. Infrared structured light allows working without markers on parts with distinct geometric features. For flat, monochrome surfaces or repetitive patterns, markers are needed.
- Accuracy when scanning large parts. Volumetric accuracy is 0.05 mm + 0.1 mm. The value is specified for the marker tracking mode.
- Magnification for small details. Optical magnification of 1.5x and 2x helps to obtain more data from areas with complex shapes and small elements.
- Scanning outdoors. INSPIRE 2 can operate at lighting up to 20,000 lux. Special filters are included for outdoor scanning, but direct sunlight should be avoided.
- Connection to a phone. Wi-Fi 6 allows connecting the scanner to compatible devices. The Premium Edition includes a battery, phone holder, quick-release plate, and cable for mobile connection.
3D Scanning Modes
- Infrared structured light. Suitable for small and medium-sized objects with pronounced geometric features. The mode supports scanning without markers and operates at speeds up to 18 frames/s.
- Multi-line infrared laser. The system forms 11 parallel laser lines. The mode is designed for detailed geometry capture, including dark and shiny surfaces, without scanning spray.
Positioning During Scanning
INSPIRE 2 supports three methods of determining the scanner's position: by the object's geometric features, by markers, and by global markers. This allows choosing the tracking method according to the part's shape and working conditions. For transparent and mirror surfaces, Revopoint recommends using scanning spray. The Standard Edition also includes 200 reflective markers and external filters.
How to Start Working with Revopoint INSPIRE 2
The workflow depends on the object and the chosen scanning mode.
- Prepare the part. Clean the surface and assess whether markers or scanning spray are needed.
- Set up the scanner. For handheld work, hold it at the appropriate distance from the object or mount it on a tripod.
- Connect the scanner. Connection is possible via USB Type-C or Wi-Fi 6.
- Launch Revo Scan 6. Open the software on a compatible computer or mobile device.
- Select the mode. For parts with complex geometry, structured light can be used, and for dark or shiny surfaces, a multi-line laser.
- Choose the positioning method. Depending on the object's shape, geometric features, markers, or global markers are available.
- Perform the scan. Move the scanner relative to the part, maintaining the recommended working distance.
- Process and export the data. After scanning, edit the obtained model and save it in the desired format.
