3D scanner SHINING 3D Einstar 2

SHINING 3D Einstar 2 – Handheld Scanner with Replaceable Battery Included

The Einstar 2 3D scanner from SHINING 3D is a versatile handheld device for three-dimensional object capture, combining high resolution, flexible scanning modes, and high-quality color texture. This 3D scanner is suitable for design and prototyping tasks, as well as reverse engineering, digital archiving, or cultural heritage.

The design is based on two modes – laser (blue laser lines) and infrared VCSEL light — which expands the range of materials and application conditions. It also includes wireless communication functions, a color camera, and support for standard file formats. The small 3D scanner easily handles large tasks.

Features and Advantages of the Einstar 2 Model

High Detail and Flexibility

Thanks to the Laser HD mode with blue laser lines, the Einstar 2 scanner provides a point distance of up to 0.05 mm, allowing the capture of the smallest object details — recesses, fine protrusions, hairstyles. This is particularly important for reverse engineering, design, and prototyping tasks.

Versatility of Modes

Switching to the IR Rapid (VCSEL) mode expands possibilities: capturing large objects, working at a long distance up to 1.4 m, scanning objects outdoors or in challenging lighting conditions. You get one scanner for small and large tasks.

Good Material Adaptation

The blue laser excels at handling black, glossy, and reflective surfaces where classic methods might yield incomplete data. The IR VCSEL mode is additionally optimized to avoid blinding light projectors, making it comfortable for scanning people or hair.

Ease of Operation

The user interface, automatic tracking, built-in RGB camera for texture, and support for popular output formats make this tool convenient for professionals and enthusiasts.

Small Size and Weight of Einstar 2

The device weighs only 420 g (with battery), size: 130x37x61 mm. This allows for long periods of scanning without strain.

2 Batteries for Continuous 3D Scanning

The scanner comes with 2 batteries (main and replaceable). While one battery is in use, the other is charging. Einstar 2 is always ready to work when you are!

Suitable for Various Fields

The model supports applications in engineering and manufacturing environments, as well as education, culture, and restoration — making it a universal solution.

When to Use Blue Laser Lines, and When to Use IR VCSEL

Blue Laser Lines (Laser HD Mode)

  • maximum surface detail of the object (fine edges, holes, textures);
  • scanning objects with black, glossy, or reflective coatings;
  • working at a short distance (approximately 100–600 mm) with high quality.

IR VCSEL Mode (IR Rapid)

  • scanning large objects or scenes where a large field of view is required and ultra-high detail is not as critical;
  • working at a significant distance (160–1400 mm);
  • conditions with bright lighting or outdoors, where the blue laser may be less stable;
  • when scanning objects that require contact with people (without a bright laser), such as bodies, faces, hair.

Examples of Using Both Modes

Blue Laser (Laser HD): scanning a car mudguard element with a glossy coating, capturing complex holes and protrusions; scanning a prototype plastic part with high detail; capturing a sculpture with a black coating.

IR VCSEL (IR Rapid): digitalization of a building facade, scanning ergonomic furniture or room interior; capturing a person or statue outdoors, where a large area and absence of laser projector glare are required; scanning a large-sized structure in a production area.

Where the Einstar 2 3D Scanner is Used

  • Reverse Engineering and Manufacturing: scanning existing parts for modeling, modification, subsequent 3D printing, or CNC machining.
  • Archiving and Cultural Heritage: digitalization of works of art, architectural elements, cultural and historical artifacts with high quality texture and geometry.
  • Education and Scientific Research: a universal device for laboratories, training courses where an affordable but accurate 3D scanner is needed.
  • Design, Visualization, and AR/VR: preparing 3D models with texture for visualization, virtual and augmented reality.
  • Medicine and Human-Oriented Tasks: scanning the body, face, creating custom orthoses, prostheses, or digital human models.
