PLA Tough Filament for 3D printing
PLA Tough plastic is tough as ABS, and easy to print as PLA material created by Spectrum.
Consumables for 3D printers, modified to improve its properties at the monomer level, which brought it a huge range of applications. It is the ideal solution for printing functional components with mechanical properties close to ABS, while maintaining easy printing and low PLA shrinkage.
The use of unique additives that change the structure of the polymer, allowed:
- Significantly reduce shrinkage compared to classic PLA-based materials and allow you to print larger
products.
- Improve the adhesion of printed products to construction platforms and between layers of material.
- Obtain higher impact resistance of printed products compared to their equivalents made of ABS.
- Retain high rigidity, typical of products made of PLA without impurities.
- Eliminates the fragility of PLA printed matter without impurities.
- Get more matte surfaces compared to unmodified PLA.
- Eliminate toxic or harmful fumes typical of ABS printing and demonstrate the combined benefits of PLA and ABS while maintaining full biodegradability.

Due to its characteristics, Spectrum PLA Tough filament can be used for printing parts that require high high dimensional accuracy, impact resistance and very low shrinkage when processing products.
PLA Tough characteristics
- Excellent alternative for styrene-based materials.
- More reliable than ABS for large prints.
- Higher impact resistance of printed items as compared to their equivalents manufactured of ABS.
- Good for creating high-resolution parts.
- Improved layer adhesion.
- More matte surfaces as compared to the unmodified PLA.
- Low warping.
- More elastic than standard PLA.
Usage
- Functional prototyping.
- Functional tools.
- End-use parts.
- Manufacturing aids.
- Custom components.

PLA Tough Packaging
The thread weighing 1.0 kg is wound on a transparent spool, which contains information about the type of material,
diameter, color and recommended printing temperature. Each coil is packed in a vacuum with a dehumidifier. All
in the original Spectrum Filaments foil cardboard.
Coil dimensions
- Outer diameter - 200 mm.
- Width - 67 mm.
- Inner diameter - 52 mm.
- Weight of empty coil - ± 250 g.
Verify quality of 3D plastic thread
Spectrum Filaments is the only company in Poland and one of the few in the world that has a tool for testing purchased filaments. VERIFY YOUR SPOOL is the most accurate quality control system on the market, ensuring that Spectrum Filaments products meet his stringent requirements.
Filament for 3D printers is produced by free extrusion, which is one of the most difficult extrusion processing
technologies, due to the particularly significant influence of process parameters on product dimensions and
material homogenization. During the manufacturing process, each 1mm of Spectrum Filaments is continuously
measured in 2 axes with an accuracy of ±0.8 µm, resulting in a quality end product. To prove this, Spectrum
Filaments, as one of the few manufacturers in the world, has introduced the possibility of an online
presentation, individually for each coil produced:
- diameter travel along the entire length of the coil;
- average diameter;
- ovality;
- standard deviation.
