The Formlabs Fuse X1 Vacuum Conveyor (VC-FSX1-230V-01) is a pneumatic stainless-steel powder-handling module purpose-built for the Fuse X1 selective laser sintering workflow. Each unit closes one transfer node in the powder loop — either feeding refreshed nylon into the printer before a build, or shuttling sifted reclaim from the Fuse Sift X1 toward the Mix Kit or a custom blending container — converting every open-air powder scoop into a sealed, automated pneumatic operation.

Input Voltage 230 V AC
Compatible Equipment Formlabs Fuse X1, Fuse Sift X1
Included Accessories Mounting hardware, vacuum hose

The image below captures the installation sequence: a technician seats the Vacuum Conveyor directly onto the Fuse X1's top-mounted powder port. No auxiliary stand, no separate enclosure — the unit integrates flush with the printer chassis using the included mounting hardware, keeping the overall footprint of the Fuse X1 workstation unchanged.

Closing the SLS Powder Loop — One Module at a Time

Every unenclosed powder transfer in an SLS workflow is both a contamination risk and a throughput constraint. Manually scooping refreshed nylon into a loading port exposes operators to fine nylon particulates, introduces variability in refresh ratios, and adds a time-critical manual task between print runs. The Fuse X1 Vacuum Conveyor removes each of those friction points by converting the transfer into a sealed, on-demand pneumatic event.

The system follows a building-block architecture. One conveyor mounts atop the Fuse X1 printer and meters fresh powder into the build volume at the correct refresh ratio before each job initiates. A second unit spans the gap between the Fuse Sift X1 output and the Mix Kit inlet — or directly into a bulk storage vessel of your choice. Because the units are modular, additional conveyors can be inserted anywhere in the chain: routing sifted powder into large-format containers between production shifts, for instance, without creating new bottlenecks downstream.

Stainless Steel and Sealed: Built for Abrasive Nylon

Nylon SLS powder presents a demanding set of material challenges. It is mildly abrasive, capable of infiltrating unprotected mechanisms, electrostatically active, and sensitive to cross-batch contamination. The Vacuum Conveyor addresses these properties at the design level. The stainless steel cylindrical body with sanitary tri-clamp band clamps at every junction is impervious to nylon abrasion and fully compatible with the isopropyl alcohol wipe-downs common in post-processing environments. The chrome ball-float valve at the top of the assembly governs powder column height during transfer, preventing over-fill regardless of ambient pressure fluctuations.

The product photograph below shows the complete Vacuum Conveyor assembly: the polished stainless steel cylinder, tri-clamp band clamps at upper and lower junctions, the side-exit fabric filter sock secured with a hose-clamp collar, the chrome ball-float valve at the crown, and the black electronics housing mounted to the top bracket. Every component visible here has a functional role in maintaining powder containment across thousands of operational cycles.

Expert Verdict: The Fuse X1 Vacuum Conveyor looks like a peripheral — it is actually the component that determines whether the Fuse X1 operates as an intermittent desktop SLS machine or a continuous production platform. A single unit on the printer side still leaves the sifter-to-blend transfer open, which is where the majority of powder loss, particulate exposure, and timing variability occur in a live production environment. Budgeting for a second unit from the outset, to close the Fuse Sift X1 output as well, is the configuration that unlocks genuine shift-level throughput. For operations running multiple print jobs per day, the labour-hour savings recover the cost of the second unit within a few months.
