Bambu Lab AMS - Automatic Material System
AMS (Automatic Material System) from Bambu Lab, is designed for multi-colour 3D printing. AMS allows the printer to automatically switch between different colours or material types, making the printing process more flexible and convenient. The system is designed for use with Bambu Lab 3D printers and supports up to four different materials simultaneously.
Bambu Lab Material Station Advantages
- Multi-filament printing - use up to 16 colors/materials in one print.
- Continuous 3D printing - automatic continuation of printing when the filament on the previous reel is finished.
- Storage of materials in a dry environment.
- Smart material management system.
- Automatic material recognition.

Make Multi-Color 3D Printing Real
Color, the ultimate expression of emotions, comes to life with Bambu Lab's Automatic Material System (AMS). Now you can enjoy the freedom of printing in multiple colors and materials.

Hassle-Free Support Removal
With AMS, Bambu Lab printers can utilize snap-away support material or dissolvable filament to make removing supports much easier.
No More Filament Leftover
Without AMS, running out of filament requires manual spool replacement, disrupting the print and leading to wasted material.
With AMS, the transition to a new spool is seamless, ensuring continuous printing and reducing waste.

Filament Backup
Your print runs uninterrupted with automatic spool changing. Thanks to the AMS filament backup function, you can rest easy knowing your printer won't run out of filament while you're asleep or away. This ensures a smooth, continuous printing process, eliminates filament waste, and enhances energy efficiency.
Advanced Intelligent System
Driven by a 32-bit MCU, sensor arrays, actuators, and an advanced algorithm, the AMS achieves remarkable intelligence. It seamlessly handles filament loading and unloading, while also providing efficient fault detection and recovery.

Filament Tangle Detection
If the filament at the toolhead encounters resistance, such as tangling or a stuck spool, the AMS will instantly detect the issue and pause the print to prevent air printing.

Say Goodbye to Wet Filaments
Moisture-absorbed filament can cause print quality issues, weak layer adhesion, and even nozzle clogs, potentially leading to a failed print.
Keep the Filament Dry
The AMS features an air-tight seal and uses desiccant material to absorb moisture, keeping it away from the filament.
A built-in humidity sensor monitors the humidity levels inside the AMS and alerts the user if the humidity is too high or if the desiccant needs replacement.
To achieve the best print quality, it's essential to use dry filament.
Automatic Filament Identification
Bambu Lab filaments come with RFID tags that the AMS reads to automatically identify the material and apply the optimal settings.
The RFID tag is automatically synchronized with Bambu Studio.
For non-Bambu Lab filaments, settings must be manually configured either in Bambu Studio or directly on the printer.

Support Up to 16 Colors
Each Bambu Lab AMS unit features 4 filament slots, and you can install up to 4 AMS units in parallel, allowing for up to 16 colors for vibrant and distinctive prints. To enable 16-color printing, connect 4 AMS units through an AMS hub.
