Bambu Lab PLA Translucent Teal Filament with Glass Effect
The Bambu Lab PLA Translucent plastic is a material for FDM printing, created based on an improved formula of standard PLA with a tensile strength of up to 55.4 MPa. The main feature of this filament is its ability to diffuse light through a translucent structure, visually imitating delicate blown or artistically processed glass. The modified polymer provides increased resistance of models to cracking and deformation, allowing for the creation of interior elements with a heat deflection temperature of up to 55 °C.
Applications of Bambu Lab PLA Translucent
- Design and Art. Thanks to its light-transmitting properties and resistance to deformation when heated up to 55 °C, the material is suitable for printing interior lighting elements — lampshades, shades, nightlight cases, LED lanterns, and diffusers that work with modern cool lamps.
- Architectural Visualization and Modeling. The filament is used to create large-scale urban and interior models. It helps recreate glass facades of buildings, stained glass windows, transparent domes, partition elements, or imitation of water surfaces in landscape design.
- Conceptual and Demonstration Prototyping. The translucency of the plastic allows for the creation of visual prototypes of complex assembled products. Through the walls of the models, you can control the placement of internal components, the movement of hidden mechanisms, the passage of internal channels, or the correctness of electronic board wiring.
- Interior Decor Elements and Accessories. The material's flexural strength of 85 MPa and its unique texture allow for the printing of complex vases, figurines, organizers, souvenir products, and decorative dishes (without direct prolonged contact with hot food) that require a translucent texture.

PLA Translucent Plastic Packaging
The filament is supplied on a collapsible spool made of heat-resistant polycarbonate, allowing the filament to be dried without the risk of frame deformation. The spool supports the Bambu Lab Refill concept for reuse. To protect against atmospheric moisture, the filament is supplied in vacuum packaging along with a silica gel packet.
- Outer Diameter of the Spool: 200 mm.
- Spool Width: 58 mm.
- Inner Diameter: 55 mm.
- Weight of Empty Spool: ±250 g.
Recommendations for Use and Printing
- Speed Control for Transparency Preservation. The optical properties of the product depend on the operating modes. To keep the model walls light-transmitting and uniform, maintain the print speed within 150 mm/s. Excessive acceleration leads to the formation of microvoids inside the layers, causing the plastic to become cloudy.
- Layer Masking. The optical refraction characteristics of light in the thickness of the translucent polymer hide the interlayer transitions of FDM printing. Even with a large layer height, the finished model looks monolithic, minimizing the need for prolonged post-processing.
- Temperature Balance. To achieve a stable glossy effect and strong layer adhesion, print at nozzle temperatures closer to the upper limit of 230–240 °C. This ensures complete filament melting and the formation of a monolithic layer structure.
- Drying and Storing the Material. Moisture saturation of the polymer affects its appearance: when printing with wet plastic, microbubbles of steam form, causing the material to lose its glass effect. It is recommended to dry the filament in a dehydrator at 55 °C for 8 hours and store it in a hermetically sealed container with fresh silica gel between uses.
- Stability Without Shrinkage. The material has a low thermal shrinkage coefficient. Models are not prone to corner deformation and detachment from the bed, ensuring geometry accuracy on both open and closed-type printers. Before printing, it is sufficient to clean the PEI plate with isopropyl alcohol.
