Cartridge Formlabs Model Resin, 1L

Photopolymer Formlabs Model Resin

Formlabs Model Resin is a highly effective material for models of crowns and other products for the field of orthodontics. For maximum accuracy, use 25 micron print settings.

Professional 3D SLA printers are one of the most versatile tools that can be found in dental laboratories and practices, and the key to their versatility is special photopolymers. Dental applications have different requirements - some must be strong and durable, others must be biocompatible for use in surgery, and some require a transparent view of aesthetics.

One of the most popular materials by dentists was resin for orthodontic models. High-precision models of patient crowns and bridges are used to check the final restorations before the procedure. Traditional gypsum dental models are based on analog casts of the patient's anatomy and require a time-consuming manual process to create. Making these models in digital form with 3D scanning can simplify and speed up the workflow, reduce costs.

The development of Formlabs Model Resin for Formlabs Form 2 was a huge challenge. Crown and bridge model printing is one of the most demanding dental applications, requiring accuracy below +/- 50 microns at the edges and points of contact and +/- 100 microns throughout the arch. Expressed as a proportion, it represents a deviation of +/- 0.17 percent above the arch of 60 mm.

Application of Formlabs Model Resin in dentistry

Formlabs Model Resin is a material that has the same strength as the plaster that dentists have used for decades. For the Model Resin, settings have been optimized that are only suitable for dental programs, given their smaller size and dense margins. It also simplifies 3D printing directly on the assembly platform, which significantly saves printing time and labor costs during further processing.

The results of our research convincingly show that printing with settings of 50 microns or 25 microns will give clinically accurate models with minimal and global accuracy. 50 micron printing allows you to get fairly accurate models of crowns and bridges, while the most precise setting of 25 microns gives results that far exceed all expectations!

Supports print resolution: 100, 50 and 25 microns (in Form 2, Form 3 and Form 3B 3D printers); 140 μm (Form 2).

Post-curing in Form Cure required.
